Lizzy took her first dance lesson when she was 10 years old. She recognized her love for dance early on, however, it was not until high school that she began to take dance seriously, training in multiple styles: ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop and lyrical. From there, Lizzy’s dance career took off. She was awarded a scholarship to Dance Olympus where she assisted Master Teachers all over the United States, and she received the Breakout Artist Winner at Nuvo Dance Convention as well as runner up at Jump Dance Convention. In 2009, Lizzy was accepted to the highly competitive and prestigious Beyond Words Dance Company where she participated in the Jazz Dance World Congress in Chicago and took first place. Later that year, she attended Capezio A.C.E. Awards in New York City and took second place for a piece called “Us." In 2012, Lizzy was selected to be a part of the Kate Jablonski Statement, a professional Chicago dance company.
Throughout her entire career, teaching always played a pivotal role. While performing was gratifying, Lizzy found teaching to be the most rewarding, and she enjoyed seeing the growth and development of her students. Lizzy continued to dance professionally while teaching until 2014 when she made the thoughtful decision to pursue her true passion of teaching full time at Expression Dance Studio. For the last 10 years, Miss Lizzy worked along side the owner, Amber Alonzo, to create and build their ballet/tap/jazz combo classes for young dancers ages 2-6. Lizzy focused her talents on the jazz recreational and competitive program ages 5-16, but also taught hip-hop and lyrical to ages 5-10. Her outstanding work and choreography has received numerous awards on a state and regional level. Miss Lizzy puts her heart and soul into her work and always goes above and beyond to ensure that her students become the best they can be on and off the dance floor.
